Lost is a very popular TV series on American television. It is a serial drama which depicts the lives of the survivors of a plane crash who are stranded on a tropical island. They land there as their flight from Australia to the United States crashes midway. The story narrates the survivors' fight for survival and their experiences on the island. It also tracks their history and individual lives before the accident.

Damon Lindelof, J. J. Abrams and Jeffrey Lieber are the creators of Lost. The series has been shot in Oahu in Hawaii. The first episode was aired on 22nd September 2004. Till date three seasons of Lost have been aired on TV. It airs on ABC Network in the United States. It is one of the most costly shows on television due to its huge star cast and the shooting collocation of Hawaii.

The series shows 72 initial survivors out of the 324 on board. It has 14 major characters. It is the second largest cast on American television in the rear Desperate Housewives. The cast includes Naveen Andrews, Emile de Ravin, Mathew Fox, Jorge Garcia, Josh Holloway, Daniel Dae Kim, Kunjin Kim, Evangeline Lilly, Terry O'Quinn, Dominic Monaghan, etc. Jack Bender and Stephen Williams are the directors of major episodes.

The bulls eye and popularity of the show is seen in the number of comics and video games with references of Lost. It has also won sundry awards including Emmy Award and the Golden Globe. All the episodes are available on DVDs as the First, Second and the Third Season. It is that there will be 3 more seasons of Lost and it will conclude with 117th episode in May 2010.

Season 1
Season 1 began on September 22, 2004. It consisted of 24 episodes. They were aired on Wednesdays at 8 pm. The story begins with a plane crash which strands survivors on an island. They are threatened by enemies like the unseen polar bears and the islet natives called the 'others'. They meet a French dame who was stranded on the same breaker 16 years ago in a shipwreck.

Season 2
Season 2 started on September 21, 2005 and the episodes were aired on Wednesdays at 9 pm. It had 23 episodes. The story continues 45 days the crash. It mainly shows the conflict in the thick of the survivors and the 'others'. The cause of the plane crash is also revealed.
Season 3
Season 3 started on October 4, 2006 and had 22 episodes. The story has gone 67 days behind the crash. The survivors find out more about the history of 'others' and the island. The war in the thick of the survivors and 'others' begins. The survivors also make contact with rescue team.
Season 4
Season 4 will start on January 31, 2008 and will have 16 episodes. It will uncover more secrets of the island.
