Fishing with jigs is the most popular technique used today for crappie fishing. This is crappies tend to be attracted by jigs and drawn towards them. They work big in all type of water conditions and for day or night fishing.

Jigs are facile to use and overture a variety of selections when it comes to sizes and colors that can be used. They can be fished in all types of water ranging from clear to murky. Plus they can be used at any depth. It is behind the scenes of this versatility that they are becoming so popular with anglers everywhere.

Jigs are tractable to use but when you are crappie fishing with jigs there are a few things that you can do that will help you be more successful each time that you go out. For example, you should always use the lightest jig head possible when crappie fishing.

This is very important crappies are a fairly inconsiderable species of fish and they will not go a very massive jig. Using a small in size jig will also help prevent tearing the mouth of the crappie as they are extremely fragile. Carrying a wide variety of jigs with you each that time you go out is also recommended.

Types of Jigs

There are anomalous types of jigs available and each one of them will work better in anomalous types of situations. The bucktail jig is apparently the most commonly one used. They are designed with actual feathers or bucktail at the end of the jig that captures the attention of the crappie and draws them in your direction.

The tube jig is the perfect tool for getting into weeds, rocks and other structures where the crappies are located. When fishing for black crappie you will get the best results when you use jigs ranging from 1inch to 1 1/2 inches in length. The 1inch to 1 3/4 inch is the best dimension to use when fishing for chalky crappie.

You also need to consider the type of water you are fishing in when using jigs. For instance, jigs are more discernible in clear water so you will want to use a unimportant of quantity to prevent scaring the crappie away. In dark or murky waters you can use larger jigs. The crappie can't see as well in dark waters. Therefore, the extra vibrations primary from the larger jigs will help to the crappie and haul them to your line.

The best way to determine which jigs would be the most productive in any given locality is by experimenting. Everything affects how the crappie respond to the bait you present. Therefore, you will need to use nonconformist jigs depending on if you are fishing during the day or night fishing. A out of ones element jig will be needed if you are fishing in the bright sunshine than what you would use when it is cloudy. Even the irregular depths you fish in will necessitate that you use a out of ones element type of jig.
